Open map data

Most places in our catalog come from Overture Maps Foundation data, which brings together several open sources. Each place keeps the licence of its source:

• Places from OpenStreetMap: © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0).
• Places under the Community Data License Agreement – Permissive 2.0.
• Places under the Apache License 2.0.
• Places released into the public domain under CC0 1.0.

This data has not been checked on site, so names and positions can be wrong. We do not claim any rights to it beyond what these licences give.

Places and stories from our editors

Our editors add places and write stories from public sources, such as heritage lists, encyclopedias and official tourism pages. They write the facts in their own words. We do not claim rights to other people's photographs or texts.
